Married: Jillian & Sally's New Year's Eve Wedding
When I was a kid the days between Christmas and the new year were filled with anticipation of the New Year's Eve party my parents would have. I planned which new outfit I'd wear and what my friends and I'd do in the basement (spoiler: Bop-It and MTV music videos because we were super cool) while our parents hung out upstairs. I loved the boisterous laughter filling the house, the warmth between friends, and shouting the countdown--those were special nights.
This NYE we photographed Jillian & Sally's wedding at Grandview Lodge and it didn't feel much different from those parties of my childhood. Yeah, okay, the guest list was much bigger, the dress code more formal --and there was a noted absence of Bop-It, but the feelings--those were all the same.
After a day of winter activities, guests huddled around a fireplace as Jillian & Sally's dads walked them down the aisle. Sally surprised Jillian by asking for each wedding party member to share something they loved about Jillian. There were lots of loud belly laughs, some tears and so much warmth.
Hours of exhaustive dancing led to a deafeningly loud countdown at which point Jillian & Sally were enveloped by their family and friends--it felt like the most special way to celebrate NYE.
Jillian & Sally-you guys definitely know how to party. Thank you for having us--we're counting on more party invites in the future!
